Tate Farms

Tate Farms was established in 1962 by G.L. Tate Sr and is one of the last family owned ranches in Rockwall County. We have raised Hereford cattle for over 50 years and proudly sell our grass-fed, grass-finished beef to the public along with other Tate Farms products. In 2000, we started our horse business and began offering quality horse boarding in a family friendly environment to clients from all over the area. We also offer private training, workshops and always have horses for sale. In 2015, we opened our event center to the public under the name of Summerfield at Tate Farms and in 2018 moved the historic Smirl Chapel to our farm to be used for weddings, community events, workshops, dinners, live music and more.
