Summer Classes at the Nature Center provide students with an exciting hands-on, experiential opportunity to explore our natural world. A variety of STEM programs and topics offer an interactive, engaging way to learn about wildlife, ecology and the environment with classes ranging from Preschool to 8th Grade. Weekly Summer Camps are available throughout June and July, offering a 9am–12pm schedule for children ages 3–4 years old, and a 9am–3pm schedule for 1st–8th graders.

Creator Camp’s summer programs for ages 5–7 are all about playful creativity and exploration! Falling Creek’s June Camp session is 20 days and provides a great opportunity for first-time campers in 1st-9th grade who are excited about all that camp has to offer. The June Camp session offers a wide variety of activities and allows boys an opportunity to build self-confidence as they improve their skills and enhance their friendships. Campers live in cabin groups of eight and choose their six favorite activities to make up their daily schedule, as well as outdoor trips off-property.

This camp is designed for performers who want to explore multiple sides of theatre in one exciting week. Each day is split into two distinct experiences, giving campers the chance to sample different performance styles: Improv, safe stage combat, musical theatre, and acting! By the end of the week, campers will have explored acting, movement, stage combat, singing, and dance, with an in-class sharing for family and friends on the final afternoon.

Campers will explore aerial robotics technology with fun and engaging educational scenarios and challenges in our drone summer camps. Students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 will discover something new at the Dallas Zoo during each of our camp experiences.

This camp is a FUN introduction into the world of robotics! Campers will learn about the six simple machines and how they are incorporated into more complex machines. Campers will also learn about electricity, circuits, and power sources as they build our “Mars-like” RC Snap Rover. The radio-controlled RC Rover is capable of performing 23 experiments and activities. Campers will also have fun constructing our Artbot & Bristlebot!

Summer Musical Theatre Intensive for kids entering 1st through entering 7th grade. Class is June 22-26, with the class culminating in two shows June 26. ALL campers are cast in the show.

Does your 4 or 5 year old enjoy making all sorts of creations with random items from your home? In camp Little Maker, we harness that innovation to help campers complete 4 exciting projects each day. Many of the build projects are supported with some of the finest inspirational children’s literature available, such as “Rosie Revere Engineer,” “Iggy Peck Architect”, “Interstellar Cinderella” and even “The Three Little Pigs.”

Campers will be using an amazing software program from MIT called “Scratch.” The program was designed for children, and teaches them the basics of programing as they create animated stories, video games, and interactive artwork. Using colorful programming blocks, campers drag and “snap” together the blocks to make a character (Sprite) walk, speak, play music, or interact with other sprites.
