At Bright Lights, we encourage students to register for workshops and masterclasses so that they can hone theatrical and theological skills. While main-stage productions are a great way to learn, workshops are designed to focus in and teach students a specific skill with a more desirable learning ratio. Masterclasses are a wonderful opportunity for your student to receive more personalized attention and direction that they might not receive in a production. They will also have the opportunity to explore solo and partner work that might not be afforded them in the casting of a large musical.
Going forward we will be offering Audition Prep Workshop for our students a month or so out from any big auditions. This workshop is in preparation for Annie Jr., but we will work with any student who needs to prep content for a musical audition. They will need to come prepared with a monologue that is appropriate for the show their are auditioning for and a minute long portion of a song. We will see their peices and work with them to grow. Auditions are the first (and sometimes only) thing a casting director sees before deciding which role is best for your student. We want them to have all the confidence they need to shine in their audition.
