Who Can Participate
To comply with NCAA rules, Ball Crew participation on court is limited to grades 3–8. High school students in grades 9–12 can still be involved as Court Captains, a leadership role supporting Ball Crew operations.

A basic understanding of tennis scoring and match flow is strongly recommended, as Ball Crew members must stay alert and anticipate when play stops between points, games, and changeovers. No prior Ball Crew experience is required—training is provided before each match.
Ball Crew Responsibilities (Grades 3–8)
Ball Crew members help keep matches running smoothly by assisting with on-court play. Responsibilities include retrieving tennis balls between points and games, safely and accurately rolling or tossing balls to players, staying focused during match play, following instructions from Court Captains and officials, learning proper positioning and court etiquette, and supporting players and officials to maintain a smooth pace of play.

Court Captain Responsibilities (Grades 9–12)
Due to NCAA recruiting rules, on-court Ball Crew participation is limited to grades 3–8. High school students may serve as Court Captains, taking on a leadership role by overseeing Ball Crew operations on assigned courts. Court Captains supervise younger Ball Crew members, ensure proper positioning and safe ball handling, communicate with officials, parents, coaches, and tournament staff as needed, assist with match setup and wrap-up, and serve as role models and mentors.

Volunteer Hours and Benefits
All participants earn volunteer service hours. Younger students build responsibility, teamwork, and confidence, while Court Captains gain valuable leadership and event-management experience. For high school students, volunteer hours are especially useful for college applications, scholarships, and school or community awards.
