Send the Love: Monotype Holiday Cards for Families

with Michelle Lee Lagerroos & Kirsten Olson
Sunday, December 6; 1–3pm CST
For families with children ages 6 and up

Monotypes are one part printmaking, one part play—and they can be done at home without a press! The result is a set of prints that are fun, freeing, and truly unique. In this 2-hour workshop, students of all ages will learn how to use gel-plate printing tools at home and print a set of one-of-a-kind cards to send to loved ones. You will also learn how to clean and store tools, ensuring your home print system is set up to print monotypes again and again! Great for families with children ages 6 and up. Children ten and younger will need adult assistance.

$40 per adult/child pair; additional children in household participate for free
$20 per BIPOC adult/child pair; additional children in household participate for free
*We are offering a reduced rate to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) participants to honor equity and increase access and artistic opportunities for those who have historically been underrepresented in the book arts. For individuals to whom this does not apply, register at the rate listed first and, if you are able, consider making a donation when registering to support MCBA’s efforts to make reduced rates available.

What you’ll need to participate: For this participatory, virtual workshop we recommend you join using a laptop or desktop computer, if possible. You will receive step-by-step instructions for downloading Zoom (it’s free!) and accessing the workshop online approximately 2 days before the workshop’s start date. You are responsible for sourcing your own supplies from the materials list. Teaching artists will answer questions about the materials list in advance of the workshop.

Please note: Registration closes 11/29 at midnight.
