No-Contact Check-outs at The Grand Prairie Main Library

How to use:
Place holds on books, DVDs or playaway audiobooks online or by calling 972-237-5700. Need some help choosing? Let our Library Personal Shopper select some books for you! Kits and backpacks are currently not available. Please be aware: not every book in the catalog is immediately available (some may be in temporary quarantine). When you place your hold, indicate either the Main or Warmack Library.
Wait until you are notified by text or email that your items are ready. We aim for pickup within one business day. If you are unsure we have your correct e-mail or phone number to text, please e-mail gplibrary@gptx.org to let us know.
Come pick up your items between noon and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday. When you get here, call us to let us know you're arrived. Call 972-237-5700 for the Main Library, and 972-237-5770 for the Warmack Library.
We'll put you on hold, and a library staffer will take your bagged items to a outdoor holding spot - not your car. When they return inside, they will pick up your call to say your items are ready.
You must stay in your car until we tell you your items are ready to be picked up.
For everyone's safety, please don't intercept library workers to take your bag before you are told it is okay to pick up your materials. The process is designed for the safety of you and the library staff.
Double-check your bag - it should have your name on it and a date due slip stapled to it.
Returned items are being held in quarantine for 4 days. Staff is wearing masks and gloves. Surfaces are being cleaned regularly. No interpersonal contact during checkout process.
Items may be returned through library book drops, or simply keep them until we reopen. No overdue fines will be charged while we are closed.
In addition, the Lake Parks Book Locker is now back in service. When placing holds, indicate the Book Locker as your destination. Located at the corner of Lynn Creek and Lake Ridge, the Book Locker is available for the pick-up and return of library items 24/7.
We encourage everyone to use our extensive on-line resources. There are materials for every age group in our e-branch. You can even get a library card online. If you need your PIN number or have any questions please e-mail us at gplibrary@gptx.org.
