Children aged 5 to 8 years are invited to participate in a research project on language, speech, and motor development and learning conducted by Leah Sack and Dr. Lisa Goffman in the Callier Center for Communication Disorders and the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences at the University of Texas at Dallas. We are looking for children with speech and/or language difficulties and also those who are developing speech and language typically. The child’s primary language needs to be English for this study. The goal of our work is to understand language, speech, and motor learning, so that in the long-term we can develop better therapies for children with speech and language difficulties. This study will take 1-4 sessions, each lasting about 1-1.5 hour(s). They will all take place at the Callier Center in Dallas or in Richardson (family preference). Each session, children will receive a toy and parents will be paid $20.00. Families will also receive a free speech, language, and hearing evaluation and report if requested. Note that assessments are conducted for research purposes (not diagnostic or clinical purposes). For more information, please contact Leah Sack at (972) 883-3052 or by e-mail at Leah.Sack@utdallas.edu.
This study has been approved by the University of Texas at Dallas Institutional Review Board (IRB # 24-42).
