Jumpstart Stories & Art

Join us the first Thursday of each month, at 10am at Irving Arts Center for stories and art! Explore new stories and fun art projects during this creative story time that combines art and children’s literature. Create a take-home art project and then browse the galleries with your kids as part of this fun AND FREE morning activity. Ages 2 and up. All supplies provided.

JumpstART is a collaboration between the Irving Arts Center and the Irving Public Library.


December 1 — Winter Animals!

Brrr! Winter tales about cold weather and some of our favorite winter animals!


January 5 – Winnie the Pooh Day!

Let’ s read stories about the beloved bear from the Hundred Acre Wood and celebrate author A. A. Milne’s birthday with a special craft!

February 2 — V is for Valentine!
Hearts and candy, hugs and kisses. Let’s celebrate this sweet holiday!

March 2 – Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!
Green eggs and ham, anyone?, Join us to celebrate the legendary author and illustrator of such classics as Horton Hears a WhoCat in the Hat , The Grinch Who Stole Christmas and The Lorax.

April 6 – Clouds and Rainbows!

Let’s hop into spring and slide down a rainbow…. Colors, clouds, and spring weather are the themes for this month’s stories and art.

May 4  Moms are amazing!
Mothers are the inspiration for this month’s activities.

June 1 – Summer Splash!
It’s summer! Time to chill out with stories and art that’s all about summer fun at the beach and by the pool.

July 6 – Red, White & Blue!
Happy Birthday, USA! Celebrate Independence Day with art projects and patriotic stories.

August 3 – Things That Go!
Trucks and planes and cars and trains. This month’s theme is transportation and all things that go!

September 7 – Alphabet Soup!
Let’s learn the letters of the alphabet with fun stories and art!
