Visiting Cold War MiG-17F
Visitors and Cold War veterans will have the rare opportunity to see up close the infamous Soviet-built MiG-17F fighter jet, thanks to our friends at FighterJets, Inc. and owner/pilot, Randy Ball. Randy is known for his spectacular day/night performances at air shows across the country. Aircraft appearance subject to change without notice due to weather and/or maintenance.
Based on the highly-successful Soviet MiG-15, the MiG-17 is the first Soviet fighter equipped with an afterburner. Armed with 2x 23mm cannons and 1x 37mm cannon, the MiG-17 was a formidable adversary for U.S. pilots during the Vietnam War. Our featured speaker Lt. Col. Bob Pardo, while flying an F-4 “Phantom II” with the 8th Tactical Fighter Wing, skillfully downed a MiG-17 over the skies of North Vietnam on May 20, 1967. Pardo flew with the “Wolf Pack” led by legendary WWII Ace Col. Robin Olds, the highest scoring American unit known as the “MiG Killers.” Sponsored by Signature Flight Support.
We are proud to partner with Operation Gratitude, an organization which has delivered over two million care packages to deployed military personnel, veterans, and first responders since 2003. Every active duty military or veteran attending this Museum event will receive a care package as a thank you for serving our nation.
