This summer, from Monday, July 10 through Friday, July 14, 2023, The Health Museum will host the annual Global Teen Medical Summit 2023 in the heart of the Texas Medical Center here in Houston. Teens from around the world will convene at The Health Museum – 1515 Hermann Drive, Houston, Texas 77004 – to participate in five days of interactive hands-on activities, including simulated medical procedures, 3D printing, working on real world solutions to environmental health challenges, just to name a few.
The experience will include a mix of conversations, visits to cutting-edge labs, a chance to stretch yourself with ethical case studies and a group-based design challenge, as well as great food and evening social activities to get to know the other students in the program. Students who choose the overnight option will stay at Rice University dormitories.
Open to high school students in grades 9-12, this five-day summit is a great opportunity to explore challenges and solutions facing modern day medicine with leading experts from the world-renowned Texas Medical Center. Partnering with some of the brightest minds in medicine today, the GTMS will provide unparalleled access to and interaction with medical thought leaders at the intersection of research, clinical practice, policy, and entrepreneurial business practices.
Guest speakers include Dr. Peter Hotez, Dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine and Professor of Pediatrics and Molecular Virology & Microbiology at Baylor College of Medicine. He is an internationally recognized physician-scientist in neglected tropical diseases and vaccine development, including coronavirus vaccines.
