Celebration of Lights- Dallas Hall at SMU

*The event has already taken place on this date: Mon, 11/29/2021
Join us for this year’s Celebration of Lights as we celebrate the 2021 holiday season with all our favorite Christmas festivities. Early in the night, not only do we get to hear from SMU’s President, R. Gerald Turner, as he reads the Christmas Story, but we also get to hear our gifted SMU musicians sing Christmas Carols as we light up Dallas Hall Lawn with thousands of Christmas lights. Now, with the trees lit and the Christmas spirit in the air, we get to continue the celebration with free food, Christmas games, and many other holiday festivities for all those in the SMU community to participate in. We cannot wait to put on this year’s Celebration of Lights and we hope to see you on November 29th!

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately.

Join us for holiday music performances by some of our most talented SMU students. Students from all areas of campus will gather to perform the Christmas classics. A full list of all performances can be found on the website closer to the event date. After performances, President Turner will read the Christmas Story from the chapter of Luke in the Bible, an annual tradition that reminds students of the meaning of the holiday season. To conclude the evening, there will be the last performance to join in while the lights cover Dallas Hall Lawn and the Christmas tree.

This year’s student performers include: TBA

Following the traditional Celebration of Light’s program, event attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of fun and festive holiday activities. Take photos with live reindeer flown in straight from the North Pole! Guests can model for caricature artist to have their portrait drawn—the perfect holiday gift for a loved one. Stockings will be equipped and ready to stuff full of candy. Finally, help support our philanthropy by writing holiday cards for children in the DFW area.
